Ocean renewable energy
Mr. Hagerman has several decades of experience with ocean renewable
energy including offshore wind, wave, tidal current and ocean
thermal power production.
Recent activities include working with federal and state permitting
agencies and stakeholder communities in Virginia to develop
commercial leases for offshore wind power development.
Research Interests
Engineering design for the Virginia Offshore Wind Technology
Advancement Project, which was lead by Dominion Virginia Power
and funded by DOE.
Served with Virginia Intergovernmental Offshore Renewable Energy Task
Force established by Minerals Management Service
(now Bureau of Ocean Energy Management).
Analyzed technical and economic feasibility of generating electric
power from ocean waves and tidal streams.
Numerical and physical modeling for a shallow water, pivoting flap,
wave powered desalination system
