Abstract:
Low
frequency marine mammal calls were recorded on seven acoustic
recording packages between March 2001 and February 2003 off the Western
Antarctic Peninsula as a part of the U.S. SO GLOBEC program. The following call types that were abundant
in the data set will be described: blue whale D calls, minke
whale downsweeps, and crabeater
seal moans. Several types of calls from
unidentified sources will also be described, such as: 50 Hz up calls, pulsed
song, and downswept song. The seasonality of different call types will
be presented and possible sources of unknown call types will be discussed.
